Antidepressants
Antidepressants can be many things:
- A drug to treat clinical depression or disorder such as obsessive compulsive disorder
- A therapy — whether psychotherapy such as cognitive behavioral therapy or just plain restorative exercise.
The most popular antidepressant drugs such as Prozac, Zoloft, Cipralex, or St John’s Wort have reportedly helped with compulsive finger picking and compulsive skin picking habits that are specifically driven by psychological conditions like body dysmorphic disorder.
It goes without saying that exploring non-medical treatments to the finger picking habit should be pursued first — or at least at the same time as pharmaceutical Antidepressants.
Some good non-pharmacological “antidepressants” are:
- Acupuncture
- Massage Therapy
- Daily Excercise (walking, running, cycling, yoga)
